Notes
The B6091 is the original Burroughs type number; 8423 (NL-8423) is the EIA-registered designation for the same tube.
Nixie tubes are cold cathode devices — no heater is used. A neon-based gas filling provides the characteristic orange glow discharge.
Designed for desk top displays and bench test equipment (Super size category in Burroughs nomenclature).
The tube operates as a current device: sufficient B+ voltage and an appropriate series resistor are required to maintain cathode current within specified limits (1.5-4.0 mA).
Prebias voltage of 65 Vdc is the voltage applied between the 'on' cathode and the 'off' cathodes to prevent background haze from unwanted ionization.
Burroughs Catalog 616 is the primary reference for electrical and mechanical data.
