Notes
Indirectly heated (unipotential cathode internally connected to heater) — unlike directly-heated rectifiers such as 5U4G, the 5V4 does not require a separate heater warm-up delay, but B+ should still be applied after heater is at operating temperature.
With capacitor-input filter, a minimum effective plate-supply impedance of 100 ohms per plate is required to limit peak current. Higher filter capacitance values may be used if the impedance is increased proportionally to keep peak plate current below 525 mA.
Hot-switching transient current with capacitor-input circuits must not exceed 3.5 A peak per plate. If hot-switching is required in operation, use choke-input filter circuits.
The 5V4G uses the older ST-14 bulb; the 5V4GA uses a straight-sided T-12 envelope. Electrically identical but verify physical clearance when substituting.
GZ32 is the European (Mullard) equivalent. Pin-compatible and electrically identical but some GZ32 variants may have slightly different construction.
